Alt Text is HTML code that gets added to an email or web page image and describes what the image is about. When the alt text code has been added, the description is displayed whenever someone hovers a mouse over the image. The primary purpose of alt text is to identify the nature of an image to people who are using assistive technology and to those who have images turned off. Because it’s not uncommon for people reading email on their phones to have images turned off, it is important to include alt text for all images in your email campaigns.
